Thanks to the hit TV show “Downton Abbey”, wedding headbands are the new “must-have” bridal accessory for today’s bride. Headbands may be relatively new in the bridal world, but they are making a huge impact.  More and more brides are choosing wedding headbands over more traditional wedding headpieces like veils, tiaras or combs. A bridal headband, as whimsical as it is romantic, can create a modern, elegant or glitzy look. They are also the perfect fashion-forward accent for more contemporary brides who may prefer traditional bridal gowns like sheaths and vintage dresses. What’s even more perfect about these wedding headbands is that they are compatible with nearly any hairstyle – from hair worn long and loose to short hairstyles and updos. A glitzy headband will be a beautiful finishing touch to your wedding look, and if you want to go “boho chic”, then adding a head band across your forehead will do just the trick!

A bride-to-be should look for a wedding headband that enhances her overall look. From simple to elaborate, there is a wedding headband for every style of bride! Check out these amazing and elegant Bridal Head Bands designed by BBT Style and head on over to their Etsy page for more information.

Wedding Dress Secrets

Myrtle+Beach+Wedding+Photo

How do some brides pull it off with their wedding dresses? Where do they shop for fantastic dresses that do not come with the prices of Balenciaga wedding frocks? If you are getting married this year, the thought might not cross your mind, but it pays to know what to do in advance.

Shop Months Ahead

Planning for the wedding covers hundreds of details for a one-day affair. If you can afford a wedding planner to do the worrying that would be great but if you opt to do the footwork yourselves, be realistic about diving the chores with your groom so you can focus on shopping for a wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, and your trousseau.

In your excitement, you might make the mistake of hundreds of brides before you. The common mistake brides make is taking too much time deciding on their wedding dresses. Ordering a wedding dress should have a margin for alterations and several fittings before it is finally ready for pick up, which in most cases is about three weeks before the wedding. Bridal shops require that you make an order at least six months before the wedding; this may seem to be too well in advance, which is correct.

In six months time, you start shopping around. When you find one that stands out from the rack of wedding dresses and discover it does not fit, there is time to make extensive alterations. If you find a dress that’s perfect but you want pearls to be added on the bodice, then that’s another time-consuming refurbishing.

Another thing, if you are planning a summer wedding get your order before the summer boom. Bridal shops are up to their neck with alterations by this time and you won’t find a shop willing to take on a rush order for wedding dresses. Unless you have a perfect figure and can fit the regular sizes and you immediately find something gorgeous, there should be no problem. But don’t bet on this.

The Custom Look Without the Expense

You might have set your sights on Oscar de la Renta wedding dresses, which are unfortunately beyond your budget. If you look around, you can find a similar style from a Tanya-Marie Bridal collection, Mari Lee collection, Jai Bridals, Alfred Sung, and Collector – for the fraction of the price of ritzy designer labels. You might be surprised at the extensive selections, the fabulous fabrics, and designs and best of all, the price for a stunning wedding dress and you can rent your wedding dress!

Advantage of One-Stop Shopping

Bridal shops have bridal packages and give away lots of discounts if you buy your wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, mother-of-the-bride’s dress, wedding invitations and wedding cake from them. This saves you time and the stress of dealing with different shops. The bridal shop specialist assigned to you also works closely with you and gives you updates on your wedding stuff. These are a hundred dollars

Ordering Online

Ordering wedding dresses online is a convenience. But be very accurate with your measurements before clicking away. Ask a professional seamstress take your measurement first. Doing the measurement yourself may not be a good idea; mistakes are costly and the dress may need extensive work for a single mistake.

If the bridal shop is within your locality or just an hour’s drive away, visit the shop and try on the wedding gowns and dresses that suit your body shape and skin coloring. This eliminates future problems about fit. Now you know some of the secrets when shopping for your wedding dress.

Engagement Ring – Wedding Band

The holiday season is filled with wonder and joy. Many couples choose to add romance by becoming engaged during the Christmas season. Whether a public or private Christmas proposal is chosen, this special moment will always be a treasured holiday memory.

January and February are CMMS Studio’s busiest months for our newly engaged couples to come to our studio to discuss their Photography and Video needs and to choose a date for their wedding.

We would like to share a few of our beautiful photographs of engagement and wedding rings and thought you may enjoy the history of how the tradition of engagement rings and wedding bands began and evolved through the centuries.

The purpose of the rings is to signify a partnership and to symbolize a relationship having a complete circle with no breaks and no end. This symbolism spans many centuries and many cultures beginning in ancient Egypt. Leaves and stems were woven into circles to signify never-ending and immortal love. The fourth finger on the left hand was believed to contain a vein that was directly connected to the heart and became the “ring” finger.

Roman betrothal rings were made of iron, which signified strength and endurance. The Romans were the first to engrave their rings. The rings were awarded as a symbol of ownership. Roman men “claimed” their woman with the ring.

Arab and Asian cultures used “Puzzle” rings as wedding bands. These rings served the dual purpose of the marriage announcement and to enforce the fidelity vow. Once removed from the finger, the ring would collapse and only the husband could put it together as each ring was unique.

Europeans began to use rings to show affection and promising love in the 17th century. These rings were known as “Posey” rings and symbolized a pledge of eternal togetherness.

In America, during Colonial times, jewelry was prohibited. Americans were frugal and deemed jewelry an unnecessary extravagance. Thimbles were given as an engagement token and the top cut off to fit the finger for the wedding band.

It is clear that the giving of a ring in honor of a union, betrothal, and marriage has been going on since ancient times, and although it may not always have been as glamorous and romantic as it is today, it was still a way of exchanging a contract of betrothal or marriage.

“First Look” Wedding Photos

There is a trend in Wedding Photography called the “First Look” where the Bride and Groom set aside time for the Photographer to catch their first glimpse of each other before the ceremony. It is a special time that is unrushed and emotional for the couple to share without family and guests being involved. We had the opportunity to be a part of a”First Look” with the “Haymore Twins” and would like to share this special part of the wedding with our readers.

First we Photographed Heather and Sean:

Big Fat Greek Wedding – Lean Style

Eric and Olga were wed at the Greek Orthodox Church in Myrtle Beach, but had some unorthodox moments. Olga’s engagement ring was a toe ring, Eric picked out Olga’s wedding dress, and Eric walked Olga down the aisle (instead of her dad who had passed on).  Their wedding was such a joy to capture!
